Paulo Borges pays tribute to his Portuguese roots, displays his love of Brazilian music and puts to work his jazz training on fourteen new tracks (eleven of which are original). As is common for many first generation Canadians, Paulo's first language is his parents' native Portuguese. Early immersion in the culture. language and values of the close-knit community has deeply affected his outlook on the world, relationships and, of course, music.

Melancholic melodies find their balance in hopeful lyrics. The syncopated beats of jazz and Bossa find their match in happy, simple pop beats reminiscent of the 1970s. All these elements simply support Paulo's mellow, smooth tenor voice. Vocal contributions by his musically-inclined siblings (check out the heartbreaking duet on the title track) and ebullient percussion by Scott Senior round out Paulo's most solid effort to date.
