This is Paul Orwa’s first CD ever. While many may not recognize his name, his guitar playing skills are all over the place, mostly in the late George Ramogi’s recordings. Groomed by Ramogi, Paul Orwa Jasolo became a competent competitor to his former master. On many occasions, he teamed up with the other benga veteran, the late Ochieng’ Nelly in recording sessions. The two were in Victoria Jazz during which time they recorded such hits as Ondiek Chilo, M.P., Pesa Orumo, and Dan Osanjo among many others. Later he gave us Opiyo Midiang’a.This is a great CD for anyone who likes good benga music. The death of his benga contemporary, D.O. Misiani leaves Paul as the only true benga musician in Luo Nyanza.

This CD only leaves me wanting to hear much more from Paul Orwa. Magic guitar and a magic voice make for a winning combination. Please, Paul, more music!

What a great work - I love this CD's collections...
author: Chrisogonas O. Odhiambo
This is a rich collection of African traditional numbers; you enjoy the words and enjoy the beats. If you happen to be unable to get the words then you will, no doubt, enjoy the excellent beats from the Benga maestro, Orwa Jasolo. I do recommend a copy to any one who wants a try; it will sound fresh and new every time you play it.
Thank you.
