In the early fifties, forbidden by the U.S. government to travel abroad - even to Canada - Paul Robeson appeared at the Peace Arch Park on the U.S. and Canadian border and sang and spoke to 30,000-40,000 people, proving to the world that his voice and his beliefs could not be stifled.
