ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bio
Paul Shapiro began his musical odyssey playing guitar and keyboards in various cover bands in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He began writing songs in 1972 and formed the Paul Shapiro Group which performed at various venues in the LA area including concert halls and college campuses. With Paul playing keyboards and singing, his band featured background vocalists, occasionally a horn section (arranged and performed by noted jazz trumpeter Bobby Shoe), and a violin or flute player. He also performed as a musician with such notables as jazz pianist Lamont Johnson.

Circa 1974 Paul signed with Reb Foster and Associates (3 Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Hoyt Axton) for artist management and production. His recordings as an artist and songwriter became popular on LA radio during that period.

In the 1980s Paul devoted his energies to songwriting and collaborated with writers such as Grammy winner Sue Sheridan. His song, "Make My Move" placed second in the Nashville songwriting competition in the pop category out of 5000 entries and he was invited to Nashville to perform the song at the Bluebird Café. His songs are widely published and recorded internationally. During that period, Paul produced many demos for LA-based singers and songwriters from his local recording studio. He also taught recording at Pasadena City College and Glendale Community College.

Paul is now creating music out of his studio in Los Angeles, working with top musicians and creating pop/AC/jazz songs with lyrics infused with eastern spiritual underpinnings (much as one of his primary musical inspirations Laura Nyro did in her later years). His purpose now is to use sales of his music to support nonprofit organizations.
