Album Notes

Painting Daisies recorded their last album “Phonography” at Randy Bachman’s (BTO/The Guess Who) studio equipped with the production genius of Joby Baker (Cowboy Junkies/Mae Moore). The sound is the result of 10 grueling years on the road, reflected in the aggressive slide guitar of Rachelle VanZanten, the songwriting smarts of Daisy Blue Groff, and Kim Gryba’s extensive experience behind the drum kit.

The Daisies were credited with an ARIA nomination for "Best Roots Recording" and were recently nominated for four Praire Music Awards. They won "Entertainer of the Year", beating out Nickelback, Jann Arden and Wide Mouth Mason. The ladies then ousted 4,000 acts across Canada to win "The Great Canadian Music Dream" and filmed their own TV special with guest Randy Bachman.

Fun to listen to and doesn't wear out it's welcome.

Phonography is full of tracks with great beats, inspires air guitar, and makes you listen to the lyrics. I found this album after buying Rachelle van Zanten's Back to Francois.
