While in search of one's true self through music, a musician goes through periods of development. These stages present many challenges to a musicians enduring patience. True artistry may be the point when the artist connects with their inner most feelings. This form of expression is of the highest level. Communication. In a world full of commercialism, it is rare to come across an individual who has the simplest of goals. Sharing their music with others. The spirit of this live recording brings out the personality of Paolo Di Sabatino. I have had the pleasure of performing with Paolo. His willingness to take the music in any unforeseen direction amazes me.
He plays with all the subtlety of a concert pianist and with the sophistication of the finest jazz pianists. As a composer, Paolo has four new pieces which feature his fine group. Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet. flughelhorn) is sure to become one of the finest names in jazz. The rhythm section includes Pietro Ciancaglini on bass and Massimo Manzi on drums. This quartet has captured the essence of Paolo's originals and plays in the spirit of Monk and Ellington on Bemsha Swing and Caravan.
