This CD was inspired by the gentle rainfall on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. The rainfall event was recorded over a period of more than 10 hours. The best bits were chosen and “condensed” down to the just over one hour on the CD. All “man made” noises were edited out. There is no music on the CD.
Nothing was “added” to the recording. No sounds were “mixed in”. It was recorded in very high resolution using stereo microphones from one location. The recording is an accurate depiction of what a gentle rain sounds like from the porch of our house.
You will hear (in general terms) gentle rain falling, leading to a more intense rain (but not a storm) followed by the rain tapering off. The sound of the rain changes with the intensity of the rainfall, making the CD more interesting to listen to.
In addition to the rain, there are natural ambient noises like eagles calling in the distance, birds calling from within bushes, frogs croaking, etc. There are other “water noises” like an occasional “plonk” of a large drop hitting a tin watering can, water running down a drain spout, etc. During very quiet sections you can hear the ocean, which is about 500 feet from the recording location.
You can use this CD to transport you away from urban settings. It is wonderful for meditation, yoga, or as a sleep aid.
