Album Notes

The Peace of Mind Orchestra was born out of the idea of creating more from less. There are only two members, but if you close your eyes and listen, your ears might be pleasantly surprised.

POMO is comprised of Ari Leopold and Matt Engel. The duo just finished their first record, Still Awake at Dawn, Part One. The record has a vintage feel, funky and psychedelic but still carried by catchy choruses. With overdubbed tracks, it actually sounds like a 4-6 band.

In order to emulate this sound live, Matt began using a Moog synthesizer for basslines, and a Nord Electro keyboard (known for its Hammond and Rhodes sounds). Ari developed a drumstick-friendly guitar and a kick-snare, in order to combine drums and guitar into one instrument.

The Peace of Mind Orchestra carves their sound out of the aural landscape, crafting a unique musical mosaic with every new song. The music takes a rather adventurous journeys across the genre pool, most often creating a subtle blend between Pink Floyd, Motown and New Orleans funk.

As the band continues touring and recording, they are pleased to be revisiting their existing fans, who can enjoy the acrobatic instrumentation without getting too distracted from the songs themselves.
