Album Notes

Bob Williams and Wes Lupold have been writing songs together for the past 15 years. The two first met on the baseball field as little league ball players in Columbus, GA while playing for Peach Little League.

Years later as college roommates, the two produced their first demo album together in 1995 while at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Lupold toured for five years with the band Soul Miner’s Daughter and later the Jennifer Nettles Band as the lead bass player. A talented musician, Lupold plays electric lead guitar, upright bass, electric bass, banjo, piano, mandolin, and accordion.
Williams is a singer-songwriter from Asheville, NC who plays acoustic guitar.

Williams and Lupold teamed up with Atlanta producer Charlie Chastain and drummer Brad Sikes (also from the Jennifer Nettles Band) to produce a 10-song album released in April of 2009. The debut album is titled, Whatever I’m Chasin’ and was recorded in Georgia at a cabin on Lake Oconee near Madision, Georgia.

The Next Big Thing

Peach League is an Atlanta based Alternative Country band I have recently discovered. While I am not usually a fan of the Country genre, I feel their newly released debut album, "Whatever I'm Chasin'" explored a lot of different sounds including Indie/College Rock, Folk, Blues, Americana, Honky Tonk and yes, Alternative Country. They have a very unique sound which I haven't been able to compare to anything else I have heard. Wes Lupold and Bob Williams have been creating music together for about 15 years and it shows. The two collaborate beautifully and bring us a unique sound with each new song they write. Williams' voice reminds me a bit of a haunting folky version of Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. The CD starts off with the lyrics, "Here's to the love of my life..." in the song "Moonlight", a story of a happily married couple. This is by far my favorite track. I fell in love with it the moment I heard it on their website. Williams and Lupold step it up a notch in this song to bring us a catchy love song, sure to be the first dance of many newlyweds in the near future. I have many songs that I can listen to over and over again on this album, including "Austin" and "What If", another song dedicated to Williams' wife, I assume. Beginning with just a piano and a man and escalating to the full band, this song poses the dreaded question of any husband or wife; what would happen if their soulmate died. The lyrics are moving and tear-provoking. Williams brings a tear to my eye with every "Don't You Goooo..." he belts out and another favorite lyric of mine, "My fallen tears have cracked me open." This album takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride (in a positive way) but with only 10 tracks, leaves you wanting so much more.
