CD BABY EDITOR'S PICK for new age/solo instrumental recording!
"Jeff Pearce is a consummate musician and composer whose years in recording and performing have distinguished him as a premier player of the Chapman Stick, a brilliant hybrid guitar-like instrument that few players have dared approach. Combining ambient chordal structure and melody simultaneously, Jeff's performances are simply captivating. As someone who's shared the stage with Jeff, I've repeatedly witnessed the enthusiastic audience reactions to his performances; a wonderful evening of contemporary composition."- Will Ackerman, Windham county, VT.
Based in Indiana, Jeff Pearce is well known to the ambient/new age music community for his unique approach to the guitar and Chapman Stick. Whether playing intimate acoustic music or crafting deep-space drifts, Jeff composes music which uniquely combines melody and mystery. His most recent project, "Rainshadow Sky", features solo Chapman Stick music recorded live in concert. Mixed and mastered by Corin Nelsen at Will Ackerman's Imaginary Road Studios, the music on "Rainshadow Sky" covers many aspects of Jeff's contemplative music.
Jeff is an active live performer, having played venues ranging from historic churches and concert halls to planetariums and dance clubs. His live performances are memorable events, mixing songs from his cd's with humorous storytelling and surprising musical improvisations.
With nine full length cd's to his name, Jeff's music has received many honors and much airplay since his first release in 1993. Jeff's music has been reviewed in Billboard, Downbeat, and Guitar Player, and music from his cd's has appeared in projects for Mercedes-Benz and Muzak. And Jeff's music can be heard worldwide on the "Music from the Hearts of Space" syndicated radio program, as well as many regional radio shows.

As a solo finger style guitarist, I apprecitate the precision of Jeff's playing. Although not technically difficult (not simple either) the quality and emotiveness of the compositions will have me seeking more of his work. Jeff creates an almost other worldly environment that allowed me to focus on the music or drift to other thoughts of peace and spirituality. Not bad for me, the existentialist that I am.

Worth witing for the rains to come

Soothing and yet focused Chapman Stick guitar helps to bring tears to a line-up of parched songs. "The Last Warm Day in October" is the best of the set. One can almost feel the angst of a long dry summer in each note. "Harvest Storm" is the odd-one of the bunch - ambient and the Chapman Stick is but a mirage here. "Deluge" has a drumming beat to it signaling the rains have finally come - very effective. A quenching oasis of music far from the harshness of everyday.

Thanks Jeff for the relaxing music. This is the first that Chuck and I have heard your music. We remember you playing guitar at the Fairfax Christian Church in your teenage years. We are enjoying your CD. We live in Indiana too. Do you have any concerts nearby, such as Bloomington?

No wonder this album is so high on the charts. Those of us who know JP's music have come to enjoy his pensive melodies, and in Rainshadow Sky we are invited to follow yet another ripple of thought in the eddies of space music superconciousness. Love the ride. Thanks, Jeff!
