A lesson in songwriting
author: Tony Murphy
After many months in the company of this album, I feel compelled to elaborate. If I were to write a book about songwriting technique, it would be very short. It would be one page long and the text would read "go and listen to the Pearldivers. What a truly brilliant album! There is something for everyone here. Cloud Riding and Tear at the Sky are simply sublime. Polaroid is a stunningly original take on extra-marital affairs, and Girl From The Northside is one of those songs that will reside in your head for weeks after an initial listen. Absolutely brilliant album, from a truly magnificent guy. 10 stars!

thought-provoking with memorable melodies and themes
author: Ian Rushton
"Box" is a natural and worthy follow-up, picking up where The Pearldivers debut release "Shimmer" left off. Introspective, with an excellent assortment of instrumentation providing a fine clothing of sounds to wear by night and day. Jet Crawford's songs, arrangements and musicianship, helped along this time by some other excellent musicians, delivers what is sometimes a very moody, intense and deeply melancholic listen. AND there is of course some lighter moments too! I suspect not just any singer could pull these songs off with the security and truthful beauty that Jet achieves. If you enjoy well-crafted songs that are at times catchy, other times thought-provoking, with memorable melodies and themes, then I strongly recommend you get your hands on this album.
