ABOUT PEE PEE:
As those who have seen Pee-Pee perform live over the years know, Pee-Pee is known for its dynamic sound, eclectic ensembles, and the unforgettable songwriting of Doo Crowder. This experimental folk rock ensemble contains a string and horn section with an array of eclectic percussion, guitars, bass, accordion, saws and packed vocal harmonies. Pee-Pee describes their sound as “pure porchcore”. Although Pee-Pee has a very unique flavor and a sound that is all their own, they recognize their many influences as “ Animal Collective, Stevie Wonder, el-p, Rilke, Velvet Underground, Neil Young, Silver Jews, Johnny Cash, Daniel Johnston, the Beta Band, Half Japanese, the Shins, Can, and more.
ABOUT THE ALBUM:
After much dedication and perseverance, beloved Denver band,
Pee-Pee, releases its long awaited first full length album: Castile Jackine is Vooded at Broonus Mousin: Volume 1. The album ranges from indi-pop to psychedelic meanderings to post rock improv to orchestral compositions leaving the listener wanting more. While putting the album together, Pee-Pee realized its vision for its first full length release could not be contained on one CD alone and was broken up into 2 volumes. Volume 1 maintains a playful, hopeful mood, while Volume 2, in the works, will express a darker deeper tone.
PRESS QUOTES:
When one of Denver\'s underground mainstays, the Dinnermints, dissolved a couple years back, bassist Doo Crowder fell in with a ramshackle band of players who wound up dubbing their collective Pee Pee. What began as a pastime, however, has evolved into a shifting ensemble that incorporates everything from acoustic guitar to strings, horns, theremin, accordion and saw. With the shambling élan of a folk hootenanny, Crowder and crew croon fully formed compositions alongside unglued improv, resulting in a Silver-Jews-meets-Freakwater jamboree that\'s short on rock-star crap and long on heart -- not to mention paeans to Pabst Blue Ribbon....the audience will discover what every kindergartner already knows: Pee Pee is number one. -Jason Heller
Best Band with the Worst Name 2007: This Denver-based assembly of friends makes beautiful music that doesn\'t need to be weighed down by pretentious metaphorical bullshit. Pee Pee is an aural amalgamation of everything from horns and acoustic guitars to theremins and saws(yes, saws).- Westword
