Album Notes

Pelikanesis/Paull E. Rubin

Guitarist, ASCAP songwriter Paull E. Rubin, fronts “PELIKANESIS”, based in Santa Barbara, CA. The band “PELIKANESIS” (meaning the telepathic transport of large seabirds) have an eclectic edge that seamlessly blend hard driving crunch rock with jazz voicings and pop sensibilities in a radio friendly format.

Overdog Records present 4 full length CD’s, Volume I…primarily a live album recorded at L.A. club gigs, Volume II with a focus on mostly studio tracks and now the new EP release features Paull in a power trio setting with bassist Stan Taylor (Led Zepplica) and the world renowned “Dr. Stix”, Steve Stockmal on drums. These four songs were recorded during a live broadcast from the “Octopus” studios (KOCP 95.9 FM, Ventura, CA) to promote the bands’ show at the Majestic Ventura Concert Theatre. He has opened shows for a variety of artists from Vince Welnick (Grateful Dead, Tubes), Merle Saunders (Jerry Garcia Band) and Howard Jones. Radio KOCP, “The Octopus”, has featured Paull on several occasions .Pelikanesis tracks are featured in the spirited Cormanesque Passion and Romance series, “Carnal Cruise”, "Same Tale Next Year" and he just completed the soundtrack, including the title cut for the upcoming Sci Fi channel release "Creature Unknown".

Born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, Paull has been a Santa Barbara resident since 1994. Paull is an archeology graduate of Humboldt State University and funnels humorous ideas to his famous younger brother, Leigh, who draws the internationally syndicated cartoon, “RUBES”.

Paull has appeared, recorded and toured with over 50 artists, primarily as a slide guitarist, bassist, voiceover artist & recording engineer (Rubinhood Mobile).
