Album Notes

"Pelusa's second full-length release, Every Indication, is lyrically rich and musically diverse; an evocative and inviting collection of songs about mothers and lovers and soldiers and the road. This is an album that gets better with every listen, as the words that tumble from these songs reveal their poetry and punch, delivered within the recognizable rhythms of alt-country, rock, and folk. A fine, rewarding release from a Seattle band that deserves a wide following." - Rus Thompson, KBCS 91.3fm

Pelusa is:
Moe Provencher - mandolin, acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals
Mike McDermott - bass, acoustic guitar, vocals

"...with McDermott’s quiet scratchy baritone balancing Provencher’s more assertive alto, their live performances are at once both vulnerable and bold, a foot-stomping, lonesome, wisecracking heartache of a time."

Porch music handcrafted by experts
author: Richard Cooper
This CD is unbelievably likeable. It's like your best friends could sing and play and came round to your porch for the evening and played the songs you like the best. Rough-hewn autumnal music with laid-back playing and some great tunes. There's a category somewhere between alt-country and americana called Porch Music that's been waiting for this CD. Wonderful.

Carefully crafted, practically perfect country/folk music.
author: Julie Jurgens
This album sounds as effortless as only the most carefully crafted pieces of art can. The lyrics are simple enough to be accessible upon first hearing, yet complex enough that repeated listenings reward the listener as s/he teases out the depth and richness of each song. Folksy without being cliched, both the diction and delivery are spot-on -- but never fully what you would expect. As for the music, I dare you not to sing along to "punkin center" or not dance to "the grind." The melodies and harmonies Pelusa writes are familiar enough to be comforting, but with enough bite to keep you alert and not quite complacent. I must admit that I did help them make this album. I would still like it even if nary a note of mine made it into the last mix. They're just that good.

Crackling with an earthy rustle like leaves in autumn, jangling like loose change in a worn pocket of old beat up Levis, shuffling along with the rhythmic scuff of leather boots on gravel, Pelusa wraps up everything simply, beautifully country and packages it up inside a happy little laid-back sizzle (mmm, BBQs...). Drawing from the broad spectrum of Americana, leaning a fair bit towards what has become known as "alt country" and all the while, reclining way back onto the steady pillar of folk, this get-up masters that intersection between the rough and shiny, the scratchy and smooth, the gristly, beat-up, down-home dirty, rugged rustle of what country music is all about- and somehow manages to bring inside of it warmth, elegance and "warm fuzzy" feelings. Ah, what a perfect summer album for cold lemonade and front porch kisses.
