Album Notes

Born in New Zealand, Pene Kingsford has been gifted with music since she was small. Throughout her schooling it was noted what a nature and pure voice Pene had. Pene Kingsford developed her talent through classical vocal training, performing in numerous choirs, a'capella groups touring New Zealand and Australia.

By her late teens, Pene Kingsford was initially playing bass guitar in her first band as well as backing vocals but soon became the lead vocalist of many bands.

Pene Kingsford has over the years put her hand to songwriting but it is only in the last year that she has fully committed herself to this passion.

Flowers and frolic, the latest album are a collection of some of her 2007 writings. As Pene wants to primarily establish herself as a reputable songwriter, Pene has been mixing up genres within her songwriting to get to the biggest audience possible.

Pene Kingsford is sure to succeed and be in demand...she has her sights set on 2008 and beyond to be extremely prosperous for her and indeed wants her songs exposed to the world.

Pene Kingsfords songs delve into what it is that is real in the world, what we feel, think, experience and to this end, her lyrics are largely provocative and appealing.

There is no doubt about it, a singer in her own right, a wonderful songwriter....sit back, listen and enjoy.

Outstanding Vocal Performances and Creative Acoustic Jazz Sound
author: Lea and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
“Flowers and Frolic” is a CD featuring the impressive vocals of Pene Kingsford. Pene’s soft vocal style and clear diction is nicely accented by the musical accompaniment, which includes mainly songs with a gentle, acoustic jazzy feel, and a few with a more urban R&B feel. The production on the CD is creative, adding interesting backing instrumentation, sounds, and counterparts. The musicianship is strong. “Lily” is an urban R&B track that interestingly combines male and female rap asides with its lead female vocal. The introduction and back up in “Fibre and the Weave” bring a slightly different flavor to this collection. The title track is a beautiful song that brings out the sensual side of Penne's vocals and nicely adds saxophone fills. Whether you're a fan of jazz or a fan of modern singer-songwriters, this CD will add a nice relaxing atmosphere to your evenings of leisure.
