From the depths of Underground insanity comes the second release by Penitentary titled "Serotonin Syndrome" This album is the next stage of absolute perfection. From start to finish there's bone crushing thrash metal drums, intricate grooves, throat slashing vocals and mind blowing transitions. Each song was crafted with pure malicious intent. The first album "Rip the System" was an introduction of mass hysteria. Serotonin Syndrome is the next chapter of blunt force trauma with musical progression, deep lyrical content and extreme personal suffering.
The album kicks off "Taste My Suffering". This song is an in your face anthem to all who criticize those who do not understand the hellish conditions some of us undergo. "Put your self in my shoes and lets see what a little bitch you would become " says guitarist/vocalist Bill Klopfer. This album is a very peronal album regarding extreme pain and suffering. It digs deep down into the depths of what its like to live in extreme utter agony. There are many hit songs on this album and one that seems to stand out a lot is the song titled "PTSD" Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious condition if not treated can result in many serious complications. Many of us have suffered a life of extreme and hostile upbrings just as fierce as soldier who fights in war. This is a topic we had to address becuase it changes who we are and what we become.
We crafted these songs from start to finish and we feel it resulted in the best work we have ever created. "Id say the influence of addiction, depression, agression and recovery from neck surgery had a big part in the deep lyrical content" says, Bill Klopfer. While recording this album we wrote a song and recorded it. One after another we did this and we were able to focus on each song at a time. Serotonin Syndrome is the album that defines the Penitentary sound for years to come. It is a progression of malicious intention!
