Album Notes

Penny's debut solo album "Conscious Contact" has had airplay in more than 20 states in the US, nation-wide on Mike Flynn's syndicated radio show "The Folk Sampler" and in six countries throughout Europe. It has also been aired worldwide on shortwave Web of Life Radio and internet radio stations.

Penny composes, records and performs roots-based music in ensembles and solo. She has opened for Tim and Mollie O'Brien, Nickle Creek, Robin and Linda Williams, and Seldom Scene among others. Her vocal style has been likened to Phoebe Snow and Joni Mitchell. She plays a 1955 000-18 Martin Guitar, fiddles and plays keyboard and piano. She has produced concerts with Homespun Productions for the past 7 years.

She has done extensive research on Long Island history and lectured about both music and history at LIU Southampton and the Shelter Island Historical Society's Lecture 2000 Series. She writes and produces the Shelter Island Historical Society's Newsletter.
