Album Notes

The Illegally People EP (say it all together fast, it's ridiculous) is a summer EP made in the wake of a well focused debut LP, "Man is Not a Bird," and the reaching-for-the-rafters of "the Narcoleptic Tongues EP." Here, the local Chicago band applies its diverse compositional ideas to some at-home studio noodling. Drum machine pounds along to the latin-beat intro of “Oh, the Humanity,” guitar noise spirals out of control on the manic “Stapling Flowers,” and incidental recording noises and drum clicks make the “rats in the basement, squirrels in the ceiling” of “We Are Not Alone” narratively audible. The Illegally People EP is perfect, quick dose of ear-candy to blast from car-stereos or iPods on any warm summer day. Also, any other day.
