Per Danielsson hails from Stockholm, studied jazz at North Texas State and now teaches at the University of Central Florida. A pianist with taste and chops, he is a gifted composer, arranger, clinician and educator. Per has performed, toured or recorded with a host of jazz luminaries like Randy Brecker, Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Terell Stafford, Danny Gottlieb, and Karrin Allyson.
On TIME WILL TELL, Per teams with his fellow professors Richard Drexler (bass) and Marty Morrell (drums). Together they form a classic piano trio: They nod to the traditions while taking the music to new places. In addition to Per's memorable original tunes, TIME WILL TELL features a composition by each sideman: "Heart Communion" from bassist/pianist Drexler and "Song For Bill," a nod to drummer Morrell's former cohort Bill Evans.
Per has uniquely arranged time-honored jazz tunes, too, like Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way," and the standards "Here's That Rainy Day" (here in waltz time) and "Old Folks" (given a swinging groove).
TIME WILL TELL and the Per Danielsson Trio will satisfy any lover of the piano and great music!

A perfect trio!!!
author: Jezzbeaux
Per Danielsson is a pianist's piano player, yet his playing and compositions are very accessible and swinging. This trio will remind you of Bill Evans' best groups, particularly since the great Marty Morrell is on drums. Richard Drexler coaxes a kind of Eddie Gomez sound out of his acoustic bass, too. This is a very cohesive, burning piano trio!!!
Per's tunes are remarkable: Very musical and memorable. "Outposted" is very hip - complex but very catchy; "My Wish" is very swinging; and "Contrast" manages to burn and be beautiful, all at once. Morrell's obvious tribute to his former boss, "Song for Bill," is heartfelt and gorgeous, while Drexler's "Heart Communion" also shines.
The pianist//leader has also come up with great arrangements of Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way" (with sizzling drums), "Old Folks" (a real groove, not a ballad!), and "Here's That Rainy Day" (done as a waltz).
I VERY highly recommend this fine trio outing!!!
