The music of After Silence is not "classical" in the normal way, (although it might be thought so in a hundred years.) Rather, it is "songs without words" played on the classical guitar. It is melodic, easy-listening music that puts you in a state of calm and rest. The compositions are all about expressing feelings and telling a story to the listener – the best way of communicating for a composer!

This album is titled After Silence because silence is a key element in music. The total silence before the music begins is filled with expectations and excitement. And the silence after the music stops is bursting with echoes and thoughts and pictures about the music. Those moments are vital. And while they last just a few seconds, they are nevertheless the most important part of the musical sound. The rests creates space and time between the sounds. Without them, the sound would be meaningless, and so a great part of the music can be found between the notes.


About Per-Olov Kindgren

Swedish guitarist Per-Olov Kindgren was born in Bogotá, Colombia and came to Sweden when he was 4 years old. In 1970 he moved to Copenhagen, Denmark and started studying with Torvald Nilsson in Helsingborg, Sweden and after three years he entered the Danish Royal Academy of Music where he studied the classical guitar for seven years with professor Per-Olof Johnson and graduated with a final diploma in 1983. Since 1982 he has worked as a guitar teacher in the music schools of Vallensbæk and Gentofte near Copenhagen.

In 1979, he joined with three other guitarists to form the "Nordic Guitar Quartet", which over the years has performed more than 400 concerts. In 1991, the Quartet recorded the album "Images" which has become one of the best selling classical guitar albums in Denmark.

Mr. Kindgren composes and arranges works not only for the classical guitar but for other instruments as well. His soft and melodic and often melancholic pieces, are now being played all over the world and even used as music in film scores. Mr. Kindgren is currently widening his concerts activities.

    Absolutely brilliant Peo,your disciples have waited a long time for this wonderful CD.It is so relaxing,many of the tunes taking one through all the emotions,my favourites tunes,and it is hard to pick them,are Marie,i think the strong love he has for comes through and really had an influence when he composed this music for her."While you were sleeping"i think even if peo had not explained why he wrote this i would have had a feeling what he was trying to convey,beautiful composition and playing."i'll walk you home"another cracking tune that needs no words of explanation,I could go on forever but will just say if you havn't got this CD yet,do so poste haste,your life will be calmer and richer for listening to a master of his art.Thankyou peo for sharing your talent and giving your precious time to reply to comments,we can'y wait untill you come to England to give a concert,and thankyou to Youtube for letting us find you.

    As has been said in earlier reviews, I've been watching Peo's videos on YouTube for quite some time, and have many of them saved as favorites. I even created a player to attach to my MySpace page so that I could listen to them while at work. Now that I have this CD, I can enjoy his brilliance not only at work, but on my drive to and from work, or where ever I travel. This CD definately gives you a reason to smile, and calms the nerves of a hectic day at work, and allows you to navigate the relentless beckoning of anger while fighting rush hour traffic.
