Album Notes

Pesky J. Nixon started with a phone call in late 2005 between Ethan Baird and Jake Bush. "I think its time to get back to the music making." A quick call by Jake to Dan Carp and Ethan, Dan, and Jake were regularly meeting to perform and wow each other with music ideas and harmonies. The group has grown with the addition of rock solid bassist and songwriter Zack Root. Now they can be found bouncing around New England at campfires, coffeehouses, festivals, Unitarian Church basements, and the streets of Boston, New York, and Portland.

The strength of Pesky J. Nixon lies in their rich harmonies and musical versatility. Each member of PJN is a songwriter in their own right.

Ethan (vocals, guitars) has a background in music composition and music production. He's worked for several years as a sound engineer for live venues and in his own Glowdog Studios. He's also spent the last fifteen years as a folk music rat attending and performing in coffeehouses throughout New England.

Jake (vocals, accordian, piano, harmonica) has been tearing up the a cappella charts for over a decade as a member of Brandeis University's Spur of the Moment, Beacon 706, Altavoz, and Six Appeal (later renamed Playback).

Dan (vocals, djembe, cajon, hand percussion) has worked as a studio drummer and in orchestral pits and ensembles for twenty years, and sang a cappella and in musical theater at the University of Pennsylvania.

Zack's (vocal, accoustic/electric/upright bass) mature stage presence, strong harmonies and unique bass techniques have been honed through years of playing and performing both on his own and with Lowell based groups 50 Ways and the Bella Birds.
