Album Notes

Like his solo release, 'Songs for Kassar, the majority of the tracks on the follow up album 'A Charming Demise' were composed for bellydancers, yet the overall sound of the album is not identifiably Middle Eastern. From melodic lines drifting over a full heavy bed of percussion in tracks like 'Persephone' and 'Mermaid's Tears' to the more sparse sounds of tracks like 'Phoenix Qin' and Shahi Baaja' (aptly named after the instruments featured on the tracks), from the more electronic skittering drum and bass sounds of 'Placebo' and 'Messy' to the mournful string laden sounds of 'The Weathering' and 'Slow Tide', 'A Charming Demise' represents a maturing of the organic and diverse multi-ethnic sound of Pete's instrumental musical palate.
