Album Notes
On "A Beautiful Thing!" pianist Pete Malinverni is joined by Lee Hudson and Eliot Zigmund, each of whom has played with an encyclopedia of Jazz greats, from Lou Donaldson to Bill Evans, from Michel Petruccianni to Junior Cook. The Trio offers a program of Malinverni originals, including the title tune, a joyful and open romp, as well as Malinverni's usual quirky takes on well-known "standards" of the repertoire, by such as Harold Arlen, Burt Bacharach and even Billy Joel. Of an earlier recording, Karl Stark of the Philadelphia Inquirer said, "Pete Malinverni is a wild cat..dark and gritty and oddly rapturous... he digs into the piano and emerges with exotic treasure" and Jim Macnie, in New York's Village voice, called Malinverni "audacious and exquisite". "A Beautiful Thing!" is sure to follow Pete's other recordings in achieving heavy airplay around the world and high accolades. Get yours now!
