Circles was an experiment in songwriting for me. Altered tunings, unusual playing techniques and instrumentation. The use of the human voice as a harmonic instrument interested me greatly and I used lots of dense vocal harmony arrangements in the songs. Even though the album was experimental, I tried to keep it a song album with the lyrical content being just as important to me as the musical.
