Peter Eldridge's original songs from his long awaited album, "Decorum" following his critically acclaimed 2001 releases, "Fool No More" and "Stranger in Town." Peter's latest album is a brilliant combination of pop and jazz, using his singer/songwriter chops in combination with the skills he has acquired through singing with the Grammy award-winning New York Voices. "Decorum" -- co-produced by Peter Eldridge and Ben Wittman -- features guitarists Marc Shulman and Ben Monder, bassist Tim Lefebvre, drummer/percussionist Ben Wittman and special guests: Joel Frahm and Darmon Meader on tenor saxophones, Seth Fruiterman on accordian and Lauren Kinhan, Theo Bleckmann and Jonatha Brooke, vocals.
Peter Eldridge continues to combine all facets of his musical talents into an eclectic mix of performing, recording, composing and teaching. He released his first two solo recordings in 2001-the sophisticated pop of 'Fool No More', a collection of his original music co-produced by Peter and multitalented Ben Wittman, as well as the bittersweet standards found in 'Stranger in Town', produced by Peter and Jean Lignel, featuring an all-star cast of jazz luminaries such as Michael Brecker, Lewis Nash, Claudio Roditi and Romero Lubambo. Both CDs were recorded for the independent label Rosebud Music. This comes after years of dynamic recordings with the Grammy award-winning vocal group New York Voices, which Peter co-founded with Darmon Meader. The group has been touring the world since 1989 and released its sixth CD in 2001, the critically acclaimed Concord album 'Sing Sing Sing', a swinging big band tribute produced by another Grammy winner, Elliot Scheiner. The New York Voices was recently voted "Favorite Vocal Jazz Group" in the 2002 Jazz Times reader poll.
Reaction to Peter's solo projects has been very strong. WICN-FM of Boston gave 'Stranger in Town' its own version of the Grammy award for best jazz album of 2001. The internet music service allmusicguide.com said of 'Fool No More', "Eldridge belongs in the celebrated tradition of melodic poets, most famously represented by such disparate voices as Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Van Morrison: singer/songwriters who create catchy, beautiful tunes with insightful lyrics that are both personal and universal..."

Solo artist & songwriter with intelligence and heart

Peter is an artist with a wide palette available for his musical expression. The openness of his music appeals to a wide variety of listeners, but the most important dimension here is the depth. Great stories with no lack of imagination for melodic and harmonic content. But as creative as the music is with lots of surprises, it seems to be the most obvious kind of music for Peter himself, and that's all I care about.

Fantastic! I count "Too Busy Being Blue" among the very best songs ever written. The entire CD is rife with subtly and ever so beautiful.

A pop classic that you can't get out of your consciousness!

From the drum hits of the first song, Playing in Traffic, to the sweet decay of the last, Surrender, I knew this album was destined to become a favorite of mine. Decorum is a lot of fun to listen to, especially in the car, singing out loud along with Peter's sweet vocals. And these are not simplistic love songs. There's a lot of quirk and playfulness in his piano playing and the band, intermingled with a lot of tenderness. Peter's pop-jazz will draw you in but you'll want to stick with it for the ballads as well.
