Album Notes

The Blue Album is Peter Holmgren's second album and it's a mix of blues, classical music and rock.

Peter Holmgren shows his talent in composing and playing fast and melodic songs. He has a good knowledge about different genres and two great examples of that is the bluesy ballad "Cold Pouring Rain" and the classical piece "A Storm in Late Fall" which is performed on a classical guitar. The songs Blue Water and Hurricane have strong melodies and riffs where Fredrik Holmgren has contributed in the writing process. Hence the songs sounds innovative with an added mellow dimension. Peter Holmgren's signature sound and playing style is present in all tracks and here are short descriptions about each song:

Blue Water: This song is a progressive song with an orchestral sound and a mix of sharp melodies.

Cold Pouring Rain: A melodic ballad in C minor with an expressive and bluesy feel.

Hurricane: Fast song. Peter uses a lead sound that's similar to Jordan Ruddess of Dream Theater but with a synthetic electric guitar sound instead of synth sounds.

In a Fury: A powerful song with a lot of attidude. Fast blues playing and fluid solos.

Electrified Larghetto: This is a great combination of classical music and rock. This song features a slow main lead, pedal tone licks and fast guitar solos.

Fear of The Dark: A heavy song with a gothic feel that's inspired by the heavy metal genre and horror movies. The orchestral parts enhances the theme.

Blazing Orchestra (Unreal): This is a techno/rock song with some serious solos by the orchestral sections!

A Storm in Late Fall: A classical piece performed on a classical guitar.

Dark Blue Forest: A darker blues/rock song. Imagine wandering home in the forest on a foggy night.

Moonlight: This song has a Peter Holmgren signature blues sound to it. Energetic and beautiful.

Cold Water: Catchy heavy riffs with string skipping and melodic cool leads.
