Though initially adapted from the styles of many prior artists and musicians, Peter J Stein's new musical genre, Folkstein, manifests a raw and unique blend of vocals and music that will transport the listener to new dimensions in sound and time. In his current, newly-released album, "Under An Open Sky", Stein presents live, with his vivid style, an original tune, Rebecca, reportedly performed in a small cafe, on a remote planet, somewhere within the local star configuration, the Pleiades. Other tunes on this interesting project spin in surprising directions, capturing the forlorn emotions of lost generations. Initially using more digital effects in the studio, as demonstrated in Stein's first Folkstein album, Broken Man - Trapped In Time, this second artistic endeavor emphasizes more acoustic guitar and harmonica, minimizing heavy percussion and string orchestration, for the sake of honesty and purity. Admittedly, only the angelic backup vocals in the last measures of "If My Love Were Untrue", are synthesized on the keyboard, while the rest of the vocals and harmonies are all Stein, singing his tributes to the mysteries of Mother Nature, whose divine presence will someday lay to rest all the restless longings of humankind.
