Album Notes

The recording includes songs which are inspired from our respective personal experiences - starting with the collision between the sexes when "Boy Meets Girl". There are songs about all that flows from this including dating, falling in love, relatioships, marriage, children and family legacy. These subjects inspired our music and our lyrics. Despite our diverse cultural backgrounds it became apparent as we worked that we had experiences in common with respect to each of these subjects.

For a time we viewed our take on the subjects of these songs as reflecting a distinctly modern perspective. That was until we fortuitously shared with each other our family pictures from earlier generations. There are pictures of our grandparents and even great grandparents taken from the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's which portray the energy of youth; the excitement created when "Boy Meets Girl"; the commitment of marriage; and photographs that take us through various stages of growing families. We have shared some of these pictures with you on the CD jacket and in the "Boy Meets Girl" Scrapbook. Sharing our familie's pictures led us to appreciate that "Boy Meets Girl" and the aftermath are not stories owned by any given generation - or any culture for that matter. Instead, they are the common thread of life which bridges generations and cultures. From this understanding we take a measure of comfort.
