LIGHT BODY
A great deal of yoga was lost with it’s transition from East to West. Westerners practice yoga primarily as a form of exercise to make the body beautiful. This is just the thinnest slice of yoga. Westerners also practice yoga to promote longevity. However, the mortality rate remains at 100% for everyone.
The true goal of yoga is to illuminate the Light Body. If you are not reaching the subtle realms in your practice, you are not practicing yoga.
Peace lies within you. Deep within each and every one is a reservoir of tranquility. All can lay claim to this eternal bliss. This is our true nature.
The CD Light Body cultivates a sense of peace and quiet. It relaxes allowing one to journey inward and thereby experience the subtle realms. In this state of relaxed awareness, stress dissolves, intelligence and creativity are enhanced, anxiety is reduced and joy is experienced. Light Body renews body mind and spirit.
Light Body stands alone. It's effectiveness is multiplied when combined with other healing modalities.

Me gusta!.

Review excerpt from Music and Media Focus
In an illustrious career spanning three decades, multi-platinum selling pianist, composer, and producer Peter Kater is not one to rest on his laurels. Constantly traversing new musical terrain, his latest release, “Light Body” shines with ever evolving reflections of creative expression. While he has had many albums of music designed to uplift the spirit, in my opinion, Light Body is the pinnacle of his healing music recordings. Peter, who plays synthesizers as well as piano is skillfully and tastefully accompanied by Grammy Award winner Paul McCandless on saxophones, oboe, English horn, and penny whistle. Paul is known as member of The Paul Winter Consort and the group Oregon. Also featured are the exquisitely ethereal wordless vocals of Tricia Bowden, who served as the executive producer of the CD and is the founder of the Mysterium Music label that the album appears on. The music is based on the 7 chakras or energy centers of the body with each having its own distinct sound and vibe, corresponding to the specific qualities of the chakra, as described in the liner notes.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the album in general was the spaciousness and flow of Peter’s playing. Also, after hearing many of his solo piano recordings, it was interesting to experience him in a fuller context such as this, as well as the greater integration of synthesizers into his sound. Trisha’s Enya-like vocals are layered and processed creating a magical ambience. I was pleasantly surprised at how atmospheric the music was, and I was entranced from the very beginning, listening to the entire album nonstop on headphones. I especially appreciated the masterful way that the synthesizers, horn parts, and angelic vocals were blended to create unified field of sound for Peter’s exquisite piano melodies to dance upon. I have to emphasize how well the music captures the essence of each energy center. This is some of Peter’s best work ever, and it has quickly become my favorite of his recordings.

The RajMan Review
Each track on this new release is named after one of the seven chakras. I don’t know anything about that sort of thing, but I do know this: the music on this CD is excellent.

Seven-time Grammy Award nominee, Billboard-charting recording artist, and film and television composer Peter Kater has used his piano and synthesizers to stunning effect, creating lush musical vistas that transport the listener to a paradise of the mind.

Kater’s vision is brought to fruition by Paul McCandless’s oboe, English horn, pennywhistles, and saxophones, and executive producer Trisha Bowden’s enchanting vocals. Kater, McCandless, and Bowden are not rockers by any means, but they make quite the power trio of a different kind.

This is classic New Age music, and one of the finer, more pure entries in that genre.

From MainlyPiano
"Light Body" is the latest in a continuing series of healing music recordings by pianist/composer Peter Kater. Kater performs on piano and synthesizers and is joined by Trisha Bowden’s vocals and Paul McCandless on oboe, penny whistles, English horn, and sax. Created as an “uplifting and supportive audial companion for life’s many challenges, transitions and metamorphosis,” the music has been found to be “particularly healing, comforting, and inspiring for people facing everything from common daily stress, disease, trauma and even the process of dying.” The titles of the pieces are named for the seven chakras, which are used as a map for a “musical journey towards love, peace and acceptance that can provide significant relief to individuals and loved ones facing life changing circumstances.” (All quotes from the liner notes.) Even though this music was composed with a specific purpose in mind, it is very beautiful to listen to for its own sake. More ambient than melodic, and often very ethereal, it makes a soothing background for working, reading, relaxing, driving, and many other activities that can be made more enjoyable with unobtrusive music that evokes feelings of peace and calm. I also need to mention the striking cover artwork by Valerie McManus - gorgeous!

"Light Body" begins with “Root Chakra,” a piece built on layers of atmospheric sound, occasional percussion, and angelic voices that accompany a slow, simple and very beautiful piano lead. While feeling very relaxed, the mind wanders to pleasant thoughts and memories, creating a sense of warm well-being. “Sacral Chakra” features McCandless’ hypnotic oboe combined with repeated patterns on the piano and Bowden’s gentle humming. “Solar Plexus Chakra” is especially graceful and haunting as it soothes mind, body, and soul. McCandless is again incredible with his soaring playing. “Heart Chakra” is very quiet, tranquil, and serene. “Throat Chakra” conveys dreamy feelings of effortless floating and of being at peace. “Intuitive Chakra” is a bit darker and more dramatic, with a singing bowl shining through the mysterious atmospheric sounds and very spare piano. McCandless’ penny whistle adds sparks of light as the piano becomes more energetic. “Crown Chakra” is the final piece in the set, and is perhaps the most ambient and peaceful of the seven as piano, English horn, and voice merge in a union of tranquility and well-being.

"Light Body" is a great album for anyone looking for a peaceful musical escape. Recommended!
