WHAT a great way to spend an evening.

I know a few singer-songwriters, so I'm not exactly shocked that someone so talented could be off my radar; but YOW, this guy is so EXcellent. Helluva a singer & writer --lots of range/nuance/power, fantastic guitar player, an amazing performer. He's got it all, except fame. Which, happily, doesn't seem to affect his performance level --the audience wins every time (and I've seen him a few times now). His CD & cassettes are knockout, too. A puzzle, but luckily for us fans, it doesn't matter if his name is a household word ...we get him all to ourselves! Highly recommended! (...in case that was unclear before.)

Creative and evocative
author: Jesus Portillo
I played Lookin' At The Blue Side of Things for a blues harmonica player in Massachusetts and he couldn't believe how cool it was. He especially couldn't believe Peter recorded his version of Tore Down before Eric Clapton's. Even Eric needs his inspiration from somebody, I guess.
She Moves Me takes me to that wonderful space where it's a smoky dark bar with a shot of whiskey, a pint of beer and a cigarette in front of me... true I don't smoke or drink much anymore, and I'm too tired to stay out late in bars anymore, but it gives me that Feeling that makes everything cool, thoughtful and inertly creative. This of course is most of the time. Sometimes it just makes me giggle just thinking that She Moves me is about someone who works for Starving Students Moving Company. That's what good music does. Different places with differnt listens.

Can't beat these blues!
author: Roberta Fagin & Fred Neeper
Peter Lamson's CD, Lookin' at the Blue Side of Things, balances outstanding instrumental skill with expressive vocals on a great selection of both familiar and original songs. He has created a sound here which makes it easy to listen to the blues without getting them. His rendition of She Moves Me is among the best I have heard, and I often find myself singing Funky is a State of Mind. Peter's interpretation of the blues leaves me hoping for a sequel.
