As a result, he laid the groundwork for future greats like Wes Montgomery, who played single line melodies instead of the strumming style that guitar (& banjo) had been limited to since their introduction to jazz. In a somewhat shallow attempt to accomplish something similar, I decided to find the best drummer I could, and have him teach to play drums on saxophone.
