"There is a bit of nostalgia in the vocal presentation of Petersen on As It Should Be. She sings a series of well-known standards accompanied by a straight-ahead jazz band that has a lilting way of accompanying her. It is reminiscent of the singers and bands from the 1950s before the chord revolution began. Petersen has a smooth mid-range voice and a clear tone, which she uses to present the music as written with little deviation from the melody.
Petersen's band does a delightful job of covering her. The instrumental portions show a bit of pizzazz, and Alberti's comping and the band's work are very complementary. Petersen's voice stands up exceptionally well to all of it. She and the band get into a groove on the up-tempo songs and mellow on the ballads, and it all flows naturally as an agreeable, no-surprise trip down memory lane." - Frank Rubolino, Cadence Magazine, May 2002
