First of all, the music that you hear on this CD was never meant for public release. Often we would throw up a couple of mikes before the gig and let the tape roll and the guys in the band would check them out at the end of the night. More often than not, we would use the same tape and record over it another night. Fortunately, we somehow managed to hang on to these. Tracks 6-9 were recorded at the old AQ on 5th & Jackson. Tracks 1-5 were recorded at the current location at 7th Place at St. Peter approximately one month before Bobby's untimely death. They showcase Bobby at his best. Full of life, fire, humor and creativity.
Bobby was always about the music. He lived his life for God, Gail and music. In that order. At one time he actually seriously thought about becoming a minister and left the professional music scene to study for the ministry. Fortunately for us, he decided he could best serve as a musician, sharing his talents with the world. As far as Gail, Bobby's beautiful wife, one just can't say enough. They were one. As a matter of fact, Bobby's good friend saxophonist Gary Berg, lovingly dubbed them BobbyGail. When Bobby was diagnosed with heart problems, Gail literally ran Bobby's business from that point on, driving him to and from gigs, carrying electric pianos and amps when needed, taking care of his bookings and providing unconditional love and support. This CD is dedicated to her.
