Album Notes

Peter Stein's MERCY'S DOOR is definitely DYLAN inspired and presents a debut rock blues CD which is an 11-track journey through the musical realms of 60's style rock and blues, underscored by some hard edged lyrics, such as:

"Pick up the morning papers
what do I see?
1 million trees being cut down
every day,
turn over the page
see a little child bleed,
is this the result
of all our technology,
over and over I see it on tv
white cop beating a black man
in the country of the free -
last night 3 children
and they was only 12
were found face down
with needles in their arms -
GOTTHEIR LIVES IN OUR HANDS
GOT THEIR LIVES IN OUR HANDS"

TO THE SPIRITUAL YEARNING OF turn on your light:

"It seems Ive been waiting for a million years
climbing on the ladder of my own tears
please don't close the door to my own heart..."

MERCY'S DOOR mixes elements of folk, blues, rock, pop, Indian raga rhythyms, and combines instrumentation including guitars, tablas, keyboards (wurlitzers, BIG leslie cabinets) played by John Gauci from Sydney band THE INFIDELS, drums by Nick Gaffney.

Also helped out by Joel (his son) with scintillating electric guitar licks and his daughter Juanita with her beautiful vocal harmonies.

Stein has delivered a lyrically hard edged and at the same time tuneful and engaging CD that is likely to be the most intriguingly original and entertaining collection you have heard in some time.

REVIEWS

A meaning beyond our wildest imaginations
author: Byron L Stein
I find good in many types of music. This appeals to me much more than any progressive music or poetic folk singing that I have ever heard. I can give this a true yes when it comes to mass appeal. This CD will find an audience!
