Three chords do not a revolution make.
The debut album from Mike Petkau is a bold first step in a direction not many singer-songwriters travel. Blending artsy quirks with folksy intentions and rock n roll romance, Parapet showcases an array of sonic textures while revealing Petkau's inner workings. The result is intimate pop music, but by no means a production assault on your sense of taste or self-worth.
"These songs are waaaay cool." (CBC Radio)
"It's in the quieter moments that the subtle percussion, trumpet, cello and electronic flourishes raise this engaging music above the din of the many lesser singer songwriters competing for our attention. This Winnipeg-based artist has talent worth keeping an eye (or ear) on."
(CJSW Radio, Calgary)

A solid release

This album was a solid debut. "As a Prairie..." and "Its a Chance.." are the real stand-outs in my opinion but the cd is good the whole way through.
