In this debut release, Jerry Crowell and Anne Langston combine emotionally charged songwriting and vocals with an array of acoustic instruments. With a writing style that reflects a contrast of wit and human vulnerability, the album carries the diversity of many American musical genres. "PINE" includes both original and traditional tunes and additionally, some tongue-in-cheek surprises from Jerry's alter ego, "Luther Pettybone".
"PINE" was engineered and co-produced by Steve Stubblefield, whose recent Catamount Records release, Starlings, Tn.- Between Hell and Baton Rouge, was listed in the Top Ten for 2004,on National Public Radio's "All Songs Considered".
Since their beginning as a duo in 2002 at Birdie's Roadhouse in Varnado, La., Jerry and Anne have shared roadhouse floors, stages and live radio and studio session time with some of some of the finest Louisiana performers including Big Daddy O , The Benji Davis Project and the legendary Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. They were also honored to perform with Louisiana artist/actor Chris Thomas King and Juno Award Winning, Colin Linden during a festival performance of "Down from the Mountain", music from the movie, "Oh Brother Where Art Thou." During the spring of 2004, the duo officially named themselves, THE PETTY BONES and released their debut CD, PINE. The songs carry the diversity of many American musical genres with original and traditional tunes, and has been featured on roots oriented radio shows in the US and Europe where it continues to reach new listeners.
