Pianopuss is a solo piano album based on asymptotes in time and space. One half premeditated, one half improvised, playing on the fine line between organization and chaos. No vocals, no overdubs, just Adam Pfeffer playing the piano.
Adam Pfeffer is best known for his psychotic piano playing and experimental electronic music. As of 2008 Adam has been playing piano for 24 years, guitar and bass for 6 years, and has recently started playing drums. Adam grew up on Long Island in New York, got an electrical engineering degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana, studied music engineering at Cogswell College in Sunnyvale California, and now lives in San Diego California. Adam has performed and/or recorded with the bands Spitkiss, Streaming Audio, and Googaloo, as well as many others. Adam began playing piano and composing at age 13, but didn't start recording and producing music until he was finished with college at age 22. Between 1996 and 2008 Adam Pfeffer has made over 100 recordings available for download on the internet. There are very few people who can work full time as an engineer while independently releasing several full length albums. Adam Pfeffer is one of these people.

This guy is worth a listen because he is an anomaly. He plays and tries all style and genres of music, and does most of them well, and whats more, he does them interestingly. He is a piano virtuoso, and recording madman. He is not afraid to try the new and unusual. Sometimes his experiments turn out odd at best (Almost Rave) and sometimes genius (Piano in the Pit). This is a man who truly loves music as music, and as a mental and emotional stimulation. The female vocalist he employs is tolerable mostly, shining in places.
Recommended Tracks: Angel Eyes (jazz ballad), Dark Castle (rock), Forgot Control (spoken word with groove), Free Drums (techno), Ooze, Piano in the Pit, and So Objective I'm Someone Else(all solo piano, brilliant compositions), Sequences of Life, and Soul Slammer (electronica).
If you like new and experimental music, with definite love of the classics, check this guy out. Think Mr. Bungle has sex with Tori Amos and has a hideously talented 4 headed baby.

A deity of modern music!!!
author: Mike Garrett
Adam Pfeffer’s neojazzical compositional style encompasses an amazing array of diversity on the Pianopuss CD. From the light & whimsical “Not My Bug,” to the sinister freneticism of “Piano In The Pit,” his motivic manipulation is paramount among contemporary composers. In this age of such division between intellectual & emotional techniques in songwriting, Adam not only walks this dichotomal line; he struts & dances upon it, & finally stomps it into oblivion. Whether you’re simply a music aficionado, or a bona fide pianophile, you’re sure to revel in the genius/insanity presented within this opus.

very cool improv. it's raw and free-flowing, but is held together by some common thread.

An incredible musician

This CD gives anyone who listens to it a glimpse into the musical mind of an unknown piano genius. A genius bottled up and hidden away in San Diego California. It's time this guy got the recognition he deserves.
