Phantom Power (Bruce Rosen on piano and Lissa Schneckenburger on fiddle) is a high energy contradance band, based in Boston, Massachusetts. Playing traditional New England fiddle repertoire for today's contemporary dance crowds, Phantom Power has never failed to delight and excite its audiences.
Phantom Power was formed while Bruce and Lissa were on tour together in California in November, 2001. Since then they have been playing dances together wherever and whenever they can. So far their growing list of appearances includes Camp DAMP (Juneau, AK), the Ralph Page Legacy Weekend (Durham, NH), the Dandelion Romp (Oberlin, OH), the Silkeborg Dance Weekend (Denmark), the Christmas Country Dance School (Berea, KY), the Dance Flurry (NY), Fiddling Frog (Pasadena, CA), Pinewoods Camp (MA), Echo Summit (CA), the Michigan Dance Heritage Fall weekend, the Fire Ant Frolic (TX), the LCFD Fall Weekend (NY), Pilgrim's Progression Dance Weekend (Lawrence, KS), as well as regular contradances throughout New England and beyond!
Individually as well as part of an ensemble, they are accomplished musicians. Bruce has been part of Boston's contra and English country dance community since the mid-70s as a dancer and musician. He also plays piano with New York City's The Fish Family, is a past musician for Ha'Penny and Commonwealth Morris, and has played with a "who's who" list of great New England fiddlers. Bruce is seen most years conducting the NEFFA Festival Orchestra.
Lissa grew up in Maine as an active member of the contradance community, where she cut her teeth both as a musician and a dancer at a very young age. She has now played all over the world as a fiddler and vocalist, including appearances in Russia, Holland, Belgium, Canada, and, of course, the United States. Lissa has opened for artists such as Alasdair Fraser, Skyedance, and Judy Collins. She received a BM in performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2001.
