Album Notes

Surf/Rock Instrumental trio based in Ventura CA featuring Joe Baugh on guitar, Tony Cicero on drums and Eric Monteith on bass.

Their debut self titled CD was recorded live-in-studio at the Travis Dickerson Recording Studios: a great room with a mix of 'modern meets classic' (i.e. Fairchild and Neve meet Pro-Tools) gear perfect for capturing the band's energetic live performance.

Their debut CD is a mix of mostly original compositions with a few favorite covers from the likes of Link Wray, Dick Dale, and Hank Marvin thrown in.

The CD also includes a 12th bonus track with The Phantom Riders performing a lively rendition of Charlie Parker's "Billy's Bounce".

I feel like putting duct tape over my CD player so I never have this one leave it. I have even adopted track 10 as my own unofficial theme music. Perfect music when you want to be a private eye super spy from the 1960's that never was. Great work to all involved.

Phantom Riders......ride in from the rockin' 50's.......

This instrumental trio does the 50's instrumental sounds,the way they should be played.A little down & dirty. Their influences have got to be Link Wray & The Stray Cats (minus vocals). There's only two cover songs,Link Wray & The Shadows, and they're commendable versions. All others are original and sound like they've rocked right out of the 50's. Many great songs with my fave being "Insominiac", but "Shake & Stomp", "Shadowchaser" are all cool. When you think it's over,it's not....wait for the bonus track which has a jazzy almost Jimmy Smith feel about it. Cool man cool!

Rockin', bopping, good times music!

I like their mixture of surf rock with flavors of rock a billy, bebop and jazz. Although I love every tune on this CD, my favorites are mysterious INSOMNIAC, jazzy SHADOW CHASER; smooth NIGHT CRAWLER, boppin' BLACK WIDOW and THE STINGER rocks! Their rendition of the BILLY'S BOUNCE is a sweet surprise... I can't wait to see them live next time they're in L.A.
