Album Notes

GR& PHEE and RHYSON HALL are DETAINED @ THE BORDER!
Gr& Phee and Rhyson Hall have been detained! Canadian customs officials are holding them under their new American style anti-terror laws. Family, friends, and fans are outraged. Canada now has a conservative government and you know what follows conservatives? That's right: terrorism! The peaceful non-littering nation of Canada feels they're under attack. Crossing the once peaceful Peace Bridge is now closer to a cold war style check point than the friendly drive thru it was for the past century. According to sources at DeepThinka Records, the duo's label, they were scheduled to perform in Toronto and never showed up. “We knew something happened.... those dudes are too thorough to miss a show, it had to be life threatening” Said label founder & president Tone X.

For more information on the events leading to this international incident go to www.deepthinka.com and pick up your copy of “Gr& Phee and Rhyson Hall are... Detained @ The Border” the newest release from the odd couple of hip hop. This album is more than the story of two Buffalo NY MCs setting out to rock the underground of their neighbors to the north. Check out these two artists as they flip their real stories of border harassment into metaphors for the borders that everyone deals with no matter where you're trying to get to. “Detained @ The Border” touches on the borders that exist in relationships, between races, sexes, friends and cities, between Indy and Major, between lyrics and reality, between MC dreams and soul sucking jobs.

Delegates from a deepening pool of hip-hop talent in Buffalo, NY, this young duo evokes Bizarre Ride-era Pharcyde updated with subterranean right-coast ruggedness: Their raps range from fun to fretting, but they're consistently fiery. And if that's not enough, their blazing debut, the quasi-concept album Detained At the Border, is Artifact-approved with an El Da Sensei collabo.
