ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Phes was born and raised in New York City. He started making music in 1997 and has been creating since. His first CD was recorded in 2001 with the live hiphop band Illegalize. In 2004 he created DFW productions and released his second CD “DFW Summer EP” with rhyme partner Tavi (look out for her solo album is coming soon!). This is Phes’ first solo project; “Escape From New York” has a distinct underground hiphop/sitting on the back of the 2 train NYC sound fused with the influence of jazz, funk, bossa nova, and improvisation. Phes represents the contemporary, urban NYC, underground, hiphop, afro-brazilian corner of the world and hopes to get his message out with this first solo project of many to come.

A fresh sound that brings promise back to hiphop. Phes and escape from NewYork
Escape from New York is an escape from the norm. From the melodic beats to its street wise lyrics phes takes us back to when hihop was about something. A nice blend of hood life and ghetto knowledge. stories a true New yorker can relate to. Nuff Respect.

"Escape from New York" is consistently refreshing...loaded with lava beats and rhymes, it is a relief to have an alternative musical perspective besides the mainstream commercial garbage we are bombarded with on a daily..."Escape from New York" delivers desde o inicio ate o fim!!!

this album is undeniable.
This album seems to be the beginning of something special for the New York emcee. You can hear the hunger pangs in his delivery, the diligence in his sample choice, and his musical skill in the instrumentation. While he exhibits the basic essentials of hip hop music (good beats, good rhymes), Phes is fearless in his attempts to take risks with his music. (i.e Ghetto Waltz) The stability of hip hop music rests on the shoulders of musicians like Phes who continue to expand the boundaries of the genre. I am truly a fan and I wish him the best of luck.

One of the better rap albums I've heard in the past couple years and have to say that this ish is refreshing, from the party beats to the more introspective works it solidly covers all bases. From the production to the rhymes, am thoroughly impressed, especially with "Ghetto Waltz", "1629" and "Holdin' On". Bottom line, this album’s hot.

HOT!!!!!
Definitely a refreshing way to bring Hip Hop back! Phes did an amazing job on this one. Favs: She Doesn't See, Ghetto Waltz, Escape from New York, 1629, NY Favela.

Sure Shot
A great listen from beginning to end. The beats bang hard and Phes comes with the lyrics every time. I highly recommend it!

The CD is hot
The CD is hot, it has great production with a variety of tempos and samples, and really shows a versatility to Phes's rhyming which switches up flows dramatically, just listen to the difference between the Ghetto Waltz and Vida Bella and you'll see what I mean. There is some great story telling with a new york backdrop to them Every one will be able to relate to and everyone brings their A game on the collabos. Good shit Phes...everyone cop it

yayo
