author: Mark D McKinley
High's inventive fretwork is nicely showcased through all original compositions on his debut -- HighperTrybe. High had taken influences of Scofield, DiMeola, Hedges and Towner and developed an original blend of sophisticated fret and high tech. Compositions range from acoustic and electric jazz inflections - original loop samples - to touches of world music. Techniques range from tastefully incorporated percussion to playing the strings with a bamboo sliver. HighperTrybe must be listened to in order to accurately appreciate the craftsmanship of this notable musician.

Give Highpertrybe a listen and you will see the quality of music that hard work, talent, and complete artistic freedom can produce.

Electro-Jazz in it's finest hour
author: Jason Corder
At first glance of the CD I thought, Great! One more non-descript jazz album to collect dust in the back of my playbox. But on further investigation I discovered some of the most heartfelt tracks I've heard to date!
The layout of the album presents twists and turns with short quirky intermission tracks nestled about beautifuly sculpted light electronic Jazz songs. Tracks 2, 4, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 are all very meticulously crafted with heartfelt melodies that definitely make this well CD worth your money! Fans of Michael Hedges, John Scofield, and electronic music in general should really check this CD out. The songs are sure to find a place in your mind and heart...
