Album Notes

This is Reynold Philipsek's 26th CD. He has been very prolific in his song writing and guitar performances. Artifacts and Curiosities is his most recent album released in March 2007.

Artifacts and Curiosities by Reynold Philipsek is the follow up to the album “25”. The “25” CD was nominated for two Minnesota Music Awards (best local album, best jazz album).

Reynold’s new CD will be available March 15, 2007. Artifacts and Curiosities features new versions of his compositions and an assortment of remixed tracks. All in all, this record is an effort to present his best compositions.

Reynold performs every Sunday night with The
Twin Cities Hot Club at The Times Bar and Café from 8 to 11. For other performance dates visit www.reynold.com

Michael Dregni (author of Django: The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend) wrote the following about “25” in a review featured in Vintage Guitar Magazine-
“The beauty of 25 lies in its sifting of influences into Philipsek’s original compositions. Running from classical jazz to Gypsy jazz to modern, the melodies are all accomplished. Yet his jazz is inspired as much by Hank Williams and Igor Stravinsky as Django Reinhardt, Thelonius Monk and Pat Martino.”

REVIEWS

Fresh, spirited and a whole lot of fun! and it's legal!

This music is fresh and light-hearted with just a touch of mystery. A wonderfully fresh approach to the creative world of jazz. Sensitive and expressive playing all around. Some very interesting instrument combinations that really work. Reynold's guitar really shines! East Hennepin Swing really does just that - swing! Saturday feels just like Saturday when I was young and carefree. Prelude is so very expressive and so technically clean. Wow! All are great tunes artistically delivered. A great collection of artifacts and curiosities!

a collection of Gypsy jazz of which to be proud.

After a prolicic run of solo reocordings-never mind his work with the Twin Cities Hot Club-Philipsek decided it was time for a "best of" collection. Yet this CD is all new, featuring the guitarist's favorite original compositions re-recorded or in alternate takes. Thje result is a collection of acoustic and electric and Gypsy jazz of which to be proud. MD (April 2007 Vintage Guitar Magazine)
