Philip Webb is an American tenor who has received initial critical acclaim after launching a career in operatic and classical music.
He has performed on the leading stages of the world, singing operas, oratorios and concerts with various symphonies. Philip has been heard all across the world and has appeared on the stages of opera theaters such as The Metropolitan Opera of New York, New York City Opera, The Vienna State Opera, the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona and the San Francisco Opera House. His career as a Lyric Spinto tenor has primarily encompassed the operas of Verdi and Puccini.
Philip's short career has encompassed a wide spectrum of roles and their interpretations, however, he is equally at home singing gospel music as that is where he first began singing. Philip leads an active career, yet when at home he can most often be found worshipping with the musicians of his home church. Together they have shared many precious moments of praise, as they have given their talents over the glory of God. In this spirit, this recording brings together many of these wonderful musicians in their common devotion to God and His praise.
On this recording Before the Throne, Philip has combined both old and new hymns in original arrangements. Each song is presented in a simple arrangement with one solo instrument and piano accompanying tenor Philip Webb. Our hope is that this pairing enables the listener to focus on the wonderful lyrics that are contained in these hymns that can lead us humbly before God’s throne. As you listen to this music we hope you will be able to worship aloud, contemplate and rejoice in the words of these wonderful hymns. More than anything we pray and hope that they will find their way into your daily fellowship with our great God.
