Phil Kelly's beautiful arrangements are played by a first class big band drawn mainly from the pool of West Coast musicians, including Pete Christlieb, Andy Martin, Lanny Mogan, Bill Summers and many others. Its a great CD with some crackling ensembles backing up the stellar soloists and there's a good vocal on the title track by Greta Matassa. All modern big band fans should love this and buy it now.

Wall to wall jazz - with a surprise in the middle.

From first note to last this CD is simply outstanding. When a composer/arranger of this calibre sets up the charts and first rate musicians get into them the result is swinging, creative jazz. A good mix of soloists together with great ensemble work is the benchmark of this particular session. This is the type of CD which remains in the collection ad infinitum and gets played often. So Mr. Kelly & The Santa Ana Winds take a collective bow and please get working on the next CD. Oh,I nearly forgot the surprise in the middle - find out for yourselves. CD Baby will happily supply the answer for $15.00 (plus postage if necessary). Go on treat yourself - this session is a 'must' for fans of big band jazz.
