Album Notes

April, 2007 - On the Southwest Florida Gulfcoast, a new musician is making a splash in the ambient music scene with a debut album. Phillip Wilkerson has released his first project, Amorphous Worlds, a musical journey through spacious, swirling atmospheres. Sometimes dark and moody and other times light and ethereal, Wilkerson's atmospheric and minimalist-inspired approach weaves a soundscape around the listener's ears, creating an evolving, submersive sonic experience.

"I have an appetite for atmospheric, spartan, and minimalist music that meanders and wends through the listener's mind," says Wilkerson. "I'm working to develop my own style of ambient that is highly amorphous, unstructured, and at the same time, contemplative. Although I mostly use virtual instruments and my own designed sounds, I also like to include sprinkles of acoustic piano, choruses, and strings."

"At the same time, my music can also function as low-volume background pieces for art galleries and planetariums, or creating a non-intrusive musical atmosphere in your own home."

Around the age of 25, Phillip acquired his first Roland MIDI keyboard and a Korg sound module. He began experimenting, musically, with abstract, ambient, and atmospheric ideas and sounds, primarily for the pure love of experimentation.

In late 2005, Phillip discovered the power and realism of virtual instruments and began incorporating them with his own hardware-based sound designs. Within a few months, he was recording and sharing his compositions. In 2008, he was honored as a Featured Artist at Stillstream.com.

His music has appeared on several netlabels and netlabel compilations. His second full-length ambient CD, "Still Point," is now available at CDBaby. "Still Point" features an hour-long set of eight soothing and relaxing tracks.

His third CD, "Early Works," is also available on CDBaby now.
