The live, "unplugged" video version of "Are You In The 99%?" is up on Youtube for your viewing pleasure. We had a ball making it!
I wanted to inspire folks to get involved in our American political system mainly because it needs so-o much reform.
Everybody is welcome to use this song at political events anywhere for free. (But hey, if someone starts making money
from this little ditty, well then, I want my share).
I tried to keep the lyrics way up-front but here they are just in case:
Hey it's time we put our politicians on the spot. They need to hear from every one of us a lot!
We're the ones that they should represent, not just K Street and the one per-cent.
Are you in the 99%? Do you want big change? If you say yes, we need you in the game.
The "right" wants to cut safe-guard regulation. Bet you 10,000 Wall Street would tumble again.
There's danger privitizing medi-care, social security too. Look what happened to our 401k's! Did that work for you?
Are you in the 99%? Do you want big change? If you say yes, we need you in the game.
And we have seen how the trickle-down theory works. The rich and the corporations end up with all the tax perks.
We need tax laws that are fair and square, and make sure everybody pays their share.
Are you in the 99%? Do you want big change? If you say yes, we need you in the game.
I encourage folks to explore channels beyond the usual networks to get the other side of the story. So much "stuff" is not reported on regular stations.
I'd like to suggest you give up those big guys for a day or two and listen to independent progressive talk radio shows such as WCPT am & fm here in Chicago-land.
You might also check out progressive TV talk-shows on MSNBC.
And another adventure to try is just google "progressive news" to search for all the web's many sources of information.
The working class is under attack by the 1% and if we don't get involved in some way, whatever way we can, then things will change, but probably not in our favor.
