TOMASO ALBINONI (1671 - 1751)
Relatively little is known about the life of Tomaso Albinoni especially considering his contemporary stature as a composer, and the well-documented period in which he lived. Unlike most composers of his time, he appears never to have sought a post at either a church or court of nobility, but then he was the son of a wealthy paper merchant and was able to compose music independently. His instrumental music attracted the attention of Johann Sebastian Bach who wrote at least two fugues based on Albinoni's themes and used his basses for harmony exercises for his pupils.
CONCERTO IN D MINOR
The Concerto in D minor is one of the great masterpieces of the 18th century. In this contemporary rendition by Philokalia the music is recreated with electric guitar, synthesiser and drums.
