Georg Friedrich Handel was a German composer of the eighteenth century who was born the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach and Domenico Scarlatti. Handel displayed considerable musical talent at an early age and by seven he was a skilful performer on the harpsichord and at nine he began to compose music. He spent most of his adult life in England, becoming a subject of the British crown in 1727. His music was known to many significant composers who came after him, including Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
The Sonata in A minor is considered to be one of Handel's finest and best musical compositions.
