It's not jazz, it's not house, it's not ambient, it's not pop, it's not downtempo but it has all the elements of these and more. A followup of his 'Do Your Living In The Night' cd 'Closer Than You Think' is an electronic production with more lush and bluesy vocals from Liz & Lil and the flute and vocals of Clare Shaw. Phil Parnell is well known for his piano work and collaborations with Matthew Herbert and this cd could be called slightly herbertesque in nature using sampled beats and and acoustic instruments combined with lyrics to bring together a collection of very listenable songs.
